Since January this year we have been working hard to make PG tips the most engaged-with UK brand on Facebook, and succeeding. We’ve gathered a community of 160,000 avid fans of the brand, who seem to really appreciate posts by PG tips mascot Monkey, sharing his tea-drinking moments throughout the year.
As you may have seen in the Drum, on Monday we launched a new campaign to drive fan loyalty and further increase engagement levels over the summer holiday, which allows users to share their holiday snaps, with a PG Tips twist. The app plays on the fact that many people like to take their favourite brand of tea away on holiday with them, and fans often upload holiday snaps of themselves enjoying a cup of PG tips tea on holiday.
Called ‘To Monkey with love’, the campaign sees Monkey, who is unable to take a holiday himself this year as he has to stay and look after the Facebook page, calling on fans to cheer him up by uploading digital postcards of themselves on holiday:
After uploading their holiday snap, fans are able to create a postcard from a pre-set selection of designs and captions. The postcards, which are PG tips-branded and includes funny captions about drinking PG tips on holiday, are addressed to Monkey and can be shared to fans’ walls, driving further engagement through friends of fans. A gallery exists within the app so that fans can vote for their favourite.
Monkey is offering the lucky fan that creates the best postcard a prize of a family outdoor adventure experience at Go Ape, plus a year’s supply of PG tips.
