Pinterest: US vs. UK users

A great infographic from visual.ly showing very clearly that from a brand perpscective, for the moment at least, Pinterest is only of real interest if your target audience consists of 25-54 year old women in the US.

And those paltry 200,000 in the UK, whose demographic profile is so at odds with the main audience? – that’s you and people like you, getting way too excited too soon…

All true, but there’s always the first to market advantage from a UK perspective. Being the first UK brand to do anything vaguely interesting on Pinterest could have it’s advantages, if not so much on the platform itself then in the media coverage it could generate, like Cadbury’s is doing on G+.

Particularly if your intended audience is actually B2B PR and marketing folk…

I think it may be a male/female aspect as well. Look at male users in the U.S. What are they Pinning? SEO, Social Media & Marketing?

The data is all derived from Google’s Double Click Ad Planner, which isn’t exactly UKOM or Hitwise in terms of accuracy.
